The Trinidad series has been a benchmark for Altadis U.S.A.'s attempts to recreate the essence of the renowned Cuban brand outside of Cuba, and this particular release stands out as one of their most successful endeavors. Born from a collaboration between Altadis' Rafael Nodal and Nicaraguan cigar maker A.J. Fernandez, this Belicoso boasts a distinctive "Series No. 1" secondary band. The cigar's blend is part of a series that showcases different wrappers, with this edition being a showcase for Nicaraguan tobaccos. The wrapper itself is a unique hybrid, blending Criollo '98 and Sumatra varieties cultivated by Fernandez. Upon lighting, the initial puffs reveal intense flavors of dried fruits, including fig, raisin, date, and blueberry, which are then harmonized by a rich, meaty, and savory undertone, culminating in a jammy, fruit-forward finish that echoes the characteristics of a fine California Cabernet.
