In late 2011, Ernesto Padilla, the brand owner, made a bold decision to discontinue several lines that had become diluted due to widespread discounting, as he sought to reposition Padilla as a genuine boutique brand. The following year, he introduced the Padilla Reserva line, crafted by Oliva Cigar Co., featuring a blend that combines an Ecuadorian Havana wrapper with tobaccos from Nicaragua's three primary growing regions: Estelí, Condega, and Jalapa. The toro vitola is a standout, offering a rich and harmonious smoking experience characterized by pronounced wood flavors, including cedar, and a subtle sweetness reminiscent of honey-infused orange peel.
