The Garcia family's journey to creating a highly acclaimed cigar began on the island of Cuba, where José "Pepin" Garcia honed his craft as a cigarmaker from a young age. Starting at just 11 years old in his hometown of Baez, Pepin eventually left Cuba with his children, Jaime and Janny, in search of greater freedom and opportunities. The family eventually settled in Miami, where they started producing cigars in a small operation. Their early success with the Tatuaje brand, rolled for Pete Johnson, brought them critical acclaim and growing demand, paving the way for them to establish their own company. The Garcias went on to build the impressive My Father Cigars S.A. factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, where they now cultivate and produce high-quality cigars. Pepin is now focused on growing tobacco in Nicaragua, experimenting with various seed varieties, while Jaime has taken on the role of master blender. In 2012, they introduced the Flor de Las Antillas brand, featuring Nicaraguan tobaccos, their signature double binder, and a sun-grown wrapper. The Toro size stands out within the Flor de Las Antillas line, boasting a gentle, rounded box press and a visually appealing, evenly colored wrapper. From the initial puff, these cigars deliver a rich and satisfying experience, with flavors of nutmeg and white pepper, and a strength level that is robust yet balanced. The result is a truly enjoyable and hard-to-put-down smoke, earning a 96-point rating. The Garcia family's dedication and perseverance have paid off, with their cigars consistently appearing on top cigar lists and now claiming the top honor as Cigar of the Year.
