The E.P. Carrillo Cigar Co.'s Pledge Prequel, a Cigar of the Year winner in 2020, marked the company's second consecutive No.1 cigar. To follow up on this success, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo opted to enhance the blend by increasing the ring gauge to 58, creating a more robust smoking experience. The resulting cigar is a full-bodied smoke characterized by rich flavors of cocoa powder, black pepper, and hickory, complemented by sweet undertones of vanilla and marshmallow. Notably, the cigar features a dark Connecticut wrapper made from Cuban-seed tobacco. Perez-Carrillo deliberately stopped at a 58 ring gauge, as he believes that exceeding this size would compromise the true essence of the blend.
